Inspired by the strata and patterning found in scientific drawings that depict geological cross sections, ‘Unconformity*’, celebrates infrastructure as the meeting of the earth’s forces with the cooperative effort of human beings–an allegorical lifting of a geological platform and cores that reveal a deep-time record from below the surface.

More than just a surface, the earth’s mantle is a living foundation, a beautifully complex, still-being-written geological story. But what is the story of geology? What might it tell us about who we are, where we’ve come from and where we’re headed?

*Unconformity is a geological term that refers to two directly adjacent masses of rock of different ages. Generally speaking, these contrasting sediments record an abrupt or significant movement that sits outside of more common geological processes.
