200 White Cubes (striped)
Screen printed cardboard boxes
Although conceived through a hands-on engagement with materials and processes, encounters with sculpture and installation are often limited to a spatial relationship with static objects in a particular space. 200 White cubes (striped) presents a vividly immersive installation of discreet sculptural units as a physically digital field for ‘users’ too manipulate/interact with. The activation of this project relies is dependent on a collective, networked intervention– its structure and regularity begs to be modified, disrupted, reconfigured.
Referencing structural and aesthetic of cues borrowed from digital systems as an interface, this installation initiates a shift from viewer to ‘user’- from consumer to creator. It rejects riparian passivity in favour of a haptic interaction with sculptural data.
